This volume presents the proceedings of the workshop on the Scientific Basis for Robotic Exploration Close to the Sun. Designed for a brief and close encounter with the sun between 20 and 3 solar radii above the solar surface the Solar Probe will directly sample the solar corona one of the last unexplored regions of the solar system.
