    Description

CBS Publishers and Distributors Integrative Approaches To Crop Potential by Mohammad Mazid

India is a fascinating country in which almost all agricultural crops that are consumable to humans are grown. A considerable number of crops have been existent in this country as inmates of the man-made (plantation crops) but these apart, a large number are still there which are not cropped in organized plantations. It is believed that plant physiology should be studied together with biochemistry and molecular biology which have provided new tools for investigating problems related with physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology of plant hormones during plant growth and development.

This book has been written primarily with a view to provide a standard and balanced text on plant physiology and biochemistry of major hormone systems related to development under stressful circumstances (gibberellic acid, salicylic acid, auxin, cytokinin, triacontanol, hormone–nutrient integration, and signalling molecules), and ultimately associated with the productivity and yield of crops. These topics are beneficial to the undergraduate and postgraduate students of Indian Universities. It deals with both the physiological and biotechnological aspects of plant life processes, including yield-inducing approaches and photosynthesis, and thereby helps the readers gain a fundamental understanding of the stress mitigation and photosynthesis in its entirety.

Mohammad Mazid completed his BSc from MJP (Rohilkhand University), Bareilly, and obtained his MSc, MPhil and PhD from the Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), and specialized in “advanced plant physiology and biochemistry” in faculty of life sciences. He has published several research papers and review articles in national and international journals of high repute. He is actively involved in coordinating the role of signalling molecules during stress circumstances induced by environmental factors, biotic and abiotic, in crop plants especially legumes, nitrogen fixing group of plants. Dr Mazid has five years’ of experience of teaching plant physiology, plant biochemistry and gymnosperms morphology at degree level, and he knows the problems faced by the students at degree level in the study of botany, especially plant physiology and biochemistry.
