The book Fundamentals of Operation Theatre Services is an effort to fulfil the long felt need for a textbook for the ORA/ CSSD trainees. Since the introduction of this training course, no appropriate books were available on the subject. As a result, the students were at a loss for preparing for their theoretical and practical classes and examinations. The present venture is an attempt to fill up the gap.Considerable efforts have been made for ensuring clarity of expression, solidity of contents, systematic presentation and comprehensive treatment. No pains have been spared to make the contents of the book interesting and easily understandable to the students.Faculty members both present and past, of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Safdarjung Hospital, have made contributions in preparing this book. Without their combined efforts it was not possible to bring out the book in its present form. Their hard labour will be fruitful if the students find this book helpful to them in their day-to-day study.
