    Description

Bio-Green Books Fruits Tropical And Subtropical Vol 2 3Rd Revised Edn by Bose And T K Et Al Eds

This book has its beginning in 1985 and later on revised in 1990. Since then a wealth of literature has been accumulated on various aspects of tropical and subtropical fruit crops. The present day fruit cultivation has become a highly sophisticated enterprise. In the process of a comprehensive literature survey, it was felt impossible to compile the research results on tropical and subtropical fruits in one volume. The third revised edition of this book is, therefore, published in two volumes. The first volume consists of fruits like mango, citrus, banana, grape, pineapple, papaya, litchi, guava and avocado in about 730 pages. Around 32 fruit crops viz. olive, persimmon, pomegranate, datepalm, ber, longan, annonas, sapota, passionfruit, fig, loquat, macademia nut, aonla, jackfruit, rambutan, carambola, bael, tamarind, durian, syzygiums, feijoa, mangosteen, phalsa, tamarillo, acerola, karonda, wood apple, dillenia kokam, salvadora, cordia, capparis, etc. have been described in the second volume in about 880 pages. Apart from thorough revision with updated scientific information on various aspects of the above mentioned fruits, substantial reorganization of the text has taken place in this edition. Emphasis has been laid on salient features of growth and development, cultivars, breeding and improvement through biotechnological approaches. The recent trends in fruit cultivation, particularly, orchard management, tissue analysis and nutrition, water management and drip irigation, improved method of harvesting and postharvest handling, and IPM are also incorporated.
