Present book is an attempt to project a balanced approach to the foundations, concepts and issues of ecotourism as they exist. Volume of literature that has emerged on the topic of ecotourism clearly seems to be at an early stage of development. To differentiate ecotourism from other types of tourism more research is needed to help formulate definitions acceptable to those working in this field. Basically the literature points that ecotourism is one aspect of nature oriented tourism, which includes other forms of tourism and out door recreations. Ecotourism also shares similarities with adventure tourism and environmental tourism. As a part of tourism industry ecotourism will have to struggle to identify itself as part of either the conventional front or alternative front, being still in infancy has long way to go. It will be of special use for those who require an overview of the available literature on tourism in sustainable tourism context.
