    Description

Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers Descemet'S Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty:Different Strokes by CASSIDY and SHARMA

Endothelial keratoplasty has been the most exciting development in the field of corneal transplantation surgery. The ongoing innovations and modifications are making it easy to erform, safe, effective and reproducible technique. We decided to write this book in response to the challenges one faces in trying to remain abreast of such a rapidly evolving technique, such as is the case with Descemet’s Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK). The benefits of this latest incarnation of endothelial transplantation are now well established. New studies designed to refine, review and ever improve upon DSAEK outcomes appear in the peer-reviewed literature at an often staggering rate. The main aim with this book of DSAEK surgery, therefore, is to distil the lessons and innovations that have led to the widespread adoption of DSAEK as the preferred surgical treatment for corneal endothelial disease. The authors have tried to present this information in a way that allows the reader to better understand and contextualize past and present developments in DSAEK surgery, and also to allow for proper evaluation of future innovations. By including short surgical videos alongside detailed descriptions of various DSAEK techniques, the authors hope that the reader will gain benefit from reading the book as a whole as well as being able to return to it as a reference when faced with a particular challenge in DSAEK surgery. The authors also hope that this book may play some small part in inspiring present and future generations of corneal surgeons to follow in the pioneering spirit of those that have progressed DSAEK to its current form.
